Prior to joining the Law Office of J. David Apple in 2025, Reed clerked for Chief Justice Nathan Hecht of the Texas Supreme Court. In that role, he assisted the Chief Justice withreed bartley drafting opinions, evaluating petitions for review, analyzing merits briefing, and preparing bench memoranda for the Court.
 
Reed later served as the Constitutional Law Fellow at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a nonprofit public-interest law firm representing religious individuals and institutions in First Amendment litigation. During this time, he also worked as a Clinical Supervisor with Yale Law School’s Free Exercise Clinic, guiding students in drafting amicus briefs for appellate courts.
 
Before his time at the Supreme Court of Texas and Becket, Reed practiced in the Dallas office of Hunton Andrews Kurth. His work focused on commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, development, and leasing of office, multifamily, retail, and mixed-use properties. He advised owners, developers, and investors on a wide range of real estate matters.
 
Reed earned his J.D. from Pepperdine Law School, where he served as an editor of the Pepperdine Law Review and president of the Christian Legal Society. He received his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College, majoring in both history and biblical and theological studies. Born and raised in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Reed is a graduate of Coppell High School.
